Advanced Placement Art History

Exam Details

The AP Art History Exam has two sections. Section I is 40% of the total grade and has two parts: Part A has 4 sets of questions based on color images (16 minutes), Part B has 83 questions (44 minutes).  Section II is 60% of the exam grade and has two parts as well: Part A has 2 long essays, one of which requires incorporating examples of art beyond the European tradition (60 minutes), Part B has 7 short essays based on color images and/or text (60 minutes).  Last year, 56.9% of students scored a 3 or better on the exam.

The College Board publishes sample exam questions and answers from previous years’ exams. It is highly recommended that students review released exams as part of their exam preparation. Most review materials below include content and model practice tests from released Advanced Placement exams.

Using the carefully selected preparation and review books, study guides and workbooks below should help you achieve your exam goals.
